Make it stand out
Inspired by the pounding of crops like sugarcane, corn and coffee, the Pilón rhythm is celebrated for its driving percussion and engaging dance.
The creation of this little known Cuban style from the south of the island was attributed to singer Pacho Alonso and percussionist Ernique Bonne in the 1950s and then also performed by other notable artists including the legendary Ibrahim Ferrer. Asere pay tribute to this tradition whilst adding their own twist.
Since they started out in the 90s Asere have always stayed true to their musical ancestry, respecting the roots as they develop a sound with their own distinctive identity. Pilón joins styles such as Son, Guaguanco, Changui and Nueva Trova in the Asere repertoire.
